How long does it take to get the test results back?
COVID-19 test results are generally available within 24-36 hours of the lab receiving the sample. In many cases, the lab receives the sample on the same day it is collected at the clinic. In other cases, it is shipped overnight and tested the following morning. This means that results, in most cases, are available within 48 hours of the time of collection.
I might have been in contact with someone who has COVID-19. Can I get tested at your clinic?
Unfortunately, no. We do not currently test anyone showing symptoms of a COVID-19 infection or anyone who suspects he or she may have come in contact with an infected person. Any person with an active infection or who suspects an active infection should contact a primary care provider or an acute healthcare facility.
Do you offer COVID-19 testing at locations outside the Bay Area?
Yes, please call us at to find the closest testing location to you.
What type of COVID-19 test do you administer?
We currently rely on a nasopharyngeal swab, or NP swab, which is the most common test being administered today. One of our medical professionals will swab the nasal passage to collect a sample, which is then sent to one of our CLIA-certified labs for evaluation.
Passport Health also is working closely with our lab partners as new testing processes are approved and made available. An example of this is a saliva-based test that the FDA has found to be accurate and allowable for testing. Passport Health will be rolling out saliva-based testing as quickly as possible.
Are your COVID-19 test lab partners CLIA certified?
Yes, Passport Health relies on an ever-expanding portfolio of labs to ensure test results are delivered as quickly as possible. These labs are certified the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) program and include the following, among many other local labs:
- Access Medical Labs
- LabCorp
- Quest Diagnostics
- Simple Laboratories
