Cholera, typhoid and rabies vaccines are among the most widely used travel vaccines. Hepatitis A and Japanese encephalitis are two other essential immunizations.
A mosquito-borne disease found in South America and Africa, yellow fever is best prevented through vaccination. Some countries even require proof of yellow fever vaccination for entry.
It has been 40 years since vaccine-preventable disease case levels have dropped dramatically, but they have not eliminated. Large swaths of the population are still advised to get routine vaccinations. Take precautions to ensure your safety on your next vacation.
