You’ve passed up on your daily Starbucks for months, you’ve carefully pinched your pennies to be able to afford that upgrade. You’ve planned, you’ve carefully crafted your itinerary, you’ve spent days and weeks scouring the internet for the best destinations to visit. You have purchased every guidebook and travel magazine published about your destination of choice. You’ve packed, you bought an entire new wardrobe for your safari, you bought a new bathing suit for time on the beach. You finally found the perfect pair of not-too-touristy shoes to wear sightseeing, and somehow, you even made it all fit in your suitcase. You have prepared for virtually everything related to your trip. But have you prepared your health? A serious illness can derail a dream vacation. Without proper pre-travel preparation vaccinations, your vacation memories could consist of little more than being sick in bed. Imagine. Spending your trip to Thailand inside of your hotel room after becoming ill with typhoid fever. Just think of spending your safari sick in bed fighting yellow fever. Imagine not being able to see the wildlife migration in Africa because you came down with a case of malaria. Or, being evacuated out of China instead of marveling at the Great Wall because you got infected Japanese encephalitis. No one wants to see those vacation photos. How do you make sure your vacation dreams do not turn into a nightmare? By investing in proper pre-travel vaccinations, medications and travel health strategies that will greatly mitigate your disease risk. Protect yourself and your travel plans by scheduling a visit with a travel health specialist to get all of your vaccinations well in advance.
