US citizens must also hold a valid passport, and it is advisable that the passport have a minimum of six months remaining validity after the date the traveler plans to depart Qatar. Tourist visas to Qatar are typically valid for thirty days. If you overstay the validity of your visa, be aware that you can face heavy fines.

Can I Obtain My Visa for Qatar on Arrival?
If you are traveling to Qatar as a tourist and are entering the country via Doha International Airport, you may obtain your visa on arrival. However, if you are traveling for any other purpose, you must get your visa in advance of arrival. Also, if you are traveling to Qatar as a tourist but plan to enter via any point of entry other than Doha International Airport, you also must obtain your visa in advance, and it is best to do so by working with a travel document expert.
