Do I Need a Visa for East Timor?
Yes. A visa is required for US citizens to travel to East Timor. Visas typically permit a 90 day stay in East Timor, but it is possible to renew the visa for an additional fee in the country if you plan to stay longer. In addition to a visa, all US citizens must also have a valid passport to travel to East Timor. The passport must be valid for at least 6 months after the date you arrive, and your passport must also have at least one blank visa page for the entry stamp.

Can I Obtain My Visa for East Timor on Arrival?
Yes. A visa on arrival is available for tourists who arrive by air at the International airport in Dili. However, on arrival visas are not available at the land border crossings with Indonesia, so, depending on how you plan to enter the country for a tourist trip, it may be necessary to obtain your visa in advance of arrival. In the case of overland entry, the visa must be obtained from the Embassy of East Timor in Washington, DC, and a travel document expert can walk you through this process.
