Do I Need a Visa for Burundi?

All US citizens must have a visa to travel to Burundi, and this visa must be obtained before you depart. Visas to Burundi permit either a single or multiple entries into the country, depending on your travel plans. In addition to a visa, travelers visiting Burundi must also have a passport that will be valid for six months after they depart the country and properly documented proof of having received the Yellow Fever vaccine.

Can I Obtain My Visa for Burundi on Arrival?

No. As of April 2015, the government of Burundi stopped issuing visas at the airport or other port of arrival. Therefore, it is necessary to obtain your visa for Burundi via the Embassy of Burundi that is located in Washington, DC. It is best to have a travel document expert handle this process for you to serve as a liaison between you and the Burundian official issuing the visa in case there are questions about the application or additional materials are needed to support the visa application.
