Do I Need a Visa for Bolivia?

The stated policy of the government of Bolivia is that all US citizens must have a visa prior to arrival. You must also have a passport with a minimum of 6 months’ validity remaining after your planned departure date. A visa for Bolivia is currently valid for ten years, and it permits multiple entries into the country. Each trip to Bolivia may only last for 30 days, and you may not stay in Bolivia for more than 90 days in any one calendar year.

Where Do I Obtain My Visa for Bolivia?

Visas for Bolivia must be obtained via the Bolivian consulate that has jurisdiction over your state of residence. As of May 1, 2015, Bolivia eliminated the visa on arrival option for US citizens. You will no longer be permitted to enter Bolivia if you do not have a visa in place in advance of arrival.
