Bolivia Visa – Requirements and Application

Do I Need a Visa for Bolivia?

A visa is needed in order to enter Bolivia and must be obtained before arrival. Your visa is valid for 30 days, and can at times be extended to up to 90 days. A valid passport is also needed to get into the country.

What Do I Need for a Bolivia Visa Application?

There are some documents you will need to get your visa. A passport, passport photo, visa form, proof of travel, proof of finances, a business letter, and a letter of invitation are the required documents for a tourist and business visa.

Tourist travelers must submit the following with their Bolivia visa application.

Passport:

  • 6 months validity
  • 1 blank visa page
  • Must not be damaged or changed

Photograph:

  • Two colored photos taken in 3 months on quality paper
  • Has to be taken against white background
  • 2×2 inches
  • Face must be facing front with neutral expression
  • Not headwear or eyeglasses are allowed accept for religious purposes

Proof of Travel:

  • Includes itinerary, or
  • Airline ticket showing entry and exit dates
  • Full name has to be shown as printed on passport
  • Hotel confirmation with dates you plan to stay
  • Full name must be sown on confirmation

Proof of Funds:

  • Copy of recent bank statement or credit card statement
  • Statements display name as shown on passport

Travelers visiting for business must have a visa. The following items must be submitted along with a completed application.

Passport:

  • 6 months validity
  • 1 blank visa page
  • Must not be damaged or changed

Business Cover Letter:

  • Has to be from your U.S. based company
  • Printed on company letterhead
  • Shows U.S. mailing address

Letter of Invitation:

  • On company letterhead
  • Address and phone number of company or person that has to be visited
  • Mention the number of entries you want for your visa

If you plan to stay for up to 90 days in Bolivia, you will need a Visitor visa. If you plan to get a job, go to school, or volunteer in Bolivia, you will also need a visa for these particular purposes.

How Much Do Bolivia Visas Cost?

Visa costs vary based on type. Costs start at round $85. There may be additional fees depending on where you apply for your visa. There are other types of visas you may require as well, and the prices may vary.

Are Any Vaccines Required for Bolivia?

Proof of yellow fever vaccination may be required if arriving from a country where the infection is present.
