Do I Need a Visa for Uganda?
A visa will be required when you travel to Uganda as well as a passport with validity of up to 6 months after you enter the country. You may also have the option of applying for an e-visa in order to enter Uganda.

What Do I Need for a Uganda Visa Application?
Travelers interested in a tourist or business visa need their passport, passport photo, a visa application form, proof of travel, a letter of invitation, and a business letter in order to obtain their visa.

In addition to a completed application form, the following items are required:
Passport:
- Originally signed and one blank page for stamp
- Include copy of personal info page
- Has 6 months validity
- Must not be changed or damaged in any way
Photographs:
- Two colored copies
- Taken within 3 months on quality paper
- 2×2 inches against a blank background
- Head must be faced front with neutral expression
- No eyeglasses or headwear accept for religious reasons
Proof of Travel:
- Requires itinerary or airline ticket
- Ticket must show entry and exit dates from Uganda
- Traveler’s full name must be displayed like on the passport
Business travelers must submit the following with their Uganda visa application.

Letter of Invitation:
- Organization provides the invitation
- Required to be written on a letter head
- Has to have address as well as phone number of the company/person that will be visited
Business Letter:
- Required to provide your business cover letter from U.S. based company
- Must be on a letterhead that shows U.S. mailing address
Tourists and people planning to go to Uganda for business can apply for an electronic visa online. If you need an East Africa and Transit visa, you can apply for them online as well. If you’re going to Uganda for official reasons or missionary work, these visas are available to apply for just make sure you bring all required documentation with you to fill out your application.

How Much Do Uganda Visas Cost?
The cost of a visa depends on how long you plan to stay in Uganda. Costs can range from $50 to $200.
Single entry e-visas start at around $50. An East African Tourist e-visa starts at $100. If you’re planning multiple entries into Uganda with an e-visa, pricing ranges from $100 to over $200, depending on length of visa and similar factors.
Please note, the Ugandan government can change fee amounts at any time. Fees do not include processing, service, consular, postage or other charges.
Are Any Vaccines Required for Uganda?
Proof of yellow fever vaccination is required for all travelers to Uganda. Hepatitis A, typhoid and routine immunizations may be recommended for your trip. See our Uganda destination advice page to learn more.

When traveling it is very helpful to find out exactly where the U.S. embassy or consulates are located. Keep the address written down in case you have a legal problem, you lose your passport, or you want to report a crime. Be sure to keep a copy of your passport with you in case you lose the original.
