Which Vaccines Do Healthcare Vendors Need?
While healthcare vendors do not often interact directly with patients, many organizations require their proof of immunization be documented. Many common required immunizations include: hepatitis A, hepatitis B, measles, mumps and rubella (MMR), Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis), chickenpox, pneumonia and influenza.

- Chickenpox –
Direct Contact & Airborne –
Given to those unvaccinated that did not have chickenpox. Healthcare vendors are at an increased risk of infection, depending on specialty.
- Hepatitis A –
Food & Water –
Protects against liver infection, long-lasting protection through booster dose
- Hepatitis B –
Blood & Body Fluids –
Liver infection commonly spread through needles, medical equipment or direct contact with body fluids. Vaccination is the best form of protection.
- Influenza –
Provides high protection against virus. Recommended on an annual basis.
- Measles Mumps Rubella (MMR) –
Various Vectors –
Vaccination recommended for anyone without evidence of immunity and/or born after 1957. Healthcare vendors are at an increased risk of infection, depending on specialty.
- Pneumonia –
Two vaccines given separately. Both are recommended for all over the age of 65, those with certain medical conditions or immunocompromised.
- TDAP (Tetanus, Diphtheria & Pertussis) –
Wounds & Airborne –
A tetanus booster vaccination is recommended for all adults once every ten years.
