TYPHOID FEVER - PHILIPPINES / INDIA / PAKISTAN

April 2008 -- Health officials confirmed a recent outbreak of Typhoid Fever in these countries. The Philippines reports 1041 new cases in Calamba City since 19 Feb. '08. In Manipur, India there have been 83 cases and Pakistan currently experiences 1000 cases per 100,000 of population per year. Travelers are encouraged by local health officials to get the Typhoid vaccine prior to traveling to these and other endemic regions and to exercise food and water precautions.
