Hector Medellin, M.D.- Medical Director

Dr. Medellin has had a long and distinguished career in the medical profession. Starting his medical career in Mexico as the son of a physician specializing in Infectious Diseases, Dr. Medellin quickly became aware of the devastation that many of these diseases can wreak on a population.  He spent a year of his medical training in the countryside of Mexico tending to the people who had less access to care.  He himself was a victim of a case of typhoid fever during this time.

Dr. Medellin came to the United States to do his residency at Thomas Jefferson College of Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and upon graduation became a professor of Radiology at The University of Texas Medical School M. D. Anderson hospital.  In 1974 he left for private practice at Memorial City Hospital.  Dr. Medellin has retired from his practice, and is devoted full time as the Medical Director of Passport Health. Dr. Medellin lost his own father to multiple infections of Hepatitis and is determined to help others avoid the same fate.  He is a member of the International Society of Travel Medicine.

Deborah Medellin- Executive Director

Debbie Medellin started Passport Health in July of 2001.  Since then it has grown to 4 offices in West Houston, Greenway Plaza , Sugar Land, and Greenspoint (North Houston).

Debbie started her medical career in East Texas as the Director of the Special Procedures and Cardiac Catheterization lab at St. Mary’s in Pt. Arthur, Texas.  She then became the Director of Lymphangiography at M.D. Anderson Hospital Cancer Center in Houston, where she performed the surgical procedure of lymphangiography for many years.  From 1978 to 2001, she had her own practice performing the procedure at many local hospitals.  When the opportunity to participate in the Passport Health family came along, she enthusiastically jumped on board, recognizing the high quality of how pre-travel medicine is practiced within the Passport Health system.  That Passport Health offers the latest and most up to date information, and the best client service is Debbie’s primary goal.  Mrs. Medellin is also a member of The International Society of Travel Medicine.

Ann Self Cegelski- Nurse Manager

Ann has been on board from day one with the Medellins to help start Passport Health.  She has a long history of practice management. Training in Baltimore in the specialized field of pre-travel medicine, Ann quickly became a huge asset for Passport Health Houston.   As Nurse Manager she is very much involved in maintaining the excellence for which Passport Health is well known.  Ann was directly responsible for running the Anthrax clinic here in Houston for the CDC post 9-11 and was given the highest recommendation for her professionalism and compassion in dealing with the participants.  Ann continues to exhibit excellence and knowledge in the field of pre-travel medicine.  She is also a member of the International Society of Travel Medicine.
