Swine Flu Q & A
Q- What is the difference between the the Swine Flu shot and the Swine Flu nasal spray?
A- Both new vaccines for the H1N1 influenza strain were approved by the FDA in September.
Health experts say they are both equally effective. The nasal spray contains a weakened form of a live virus. FluMist is not for everyone. It is only approved for healthy people between the ages of two and 49. You should not get the nasal spray vaccine if you are pregnant, have asthma or have a weakened immune system.
Anyone over the age of six months can be given the flu shot. Both the seasonal flu shot and seasonal flu nose spray are currently available.
