Preventive vaccines are not yet available for the A/H1N1 "swine" flu virus.
Passport Health MA can however supply the retrovirals Tamiflu and Relenza.
For travelers, particularly to areas with medical standards lower than the USA,
these have an important mitigation effect on the effects of the flu if taken rapidly
after onset. Those with a history of heart disease, asthma, bronchitis or
pneumonia are particularly encouraged to consider these as a necessary part
of their travel kit.
Passport Health MA is now starting to prepare for its annual flu clinics that
start in the early fall. We will take bookings now from colleges, businesses
and schools that are confident that 10 or more people will need the protection.
Anticipated charge for these will be $22.50 per vaccination.
