The official games of the XXX Olympiad are being held in London, England this year. The games start July 27 and run until August 12th. This year, London will become the only city that has hosted the modern Olympic Games three times. (Also held in 1908 and 1948.)
As of June 5 of this year, 185 countries have at least 1 qualified athlete to compete in 300 different events in hopes to win the gold. Wondering where everyone is going to fit in the congested city of London? Check out the video below outlining the new venues being built to accommodate the athletes, their families, trainers, staff, spectators and the over 70,000 volunteers.
If you are traveling to London to be a part of the 2012 Olympic Games there are a few recommendations to consider before you go. Currently there is a Measles outbreak in the UK and it is highly recommended to be up to date on all routine immunizations, especially MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella.) Please contact your local Passport Health to schedule a consultation.
